4.  JUST WHEN I THOUGHT MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE COULDN’T GET ANY NICER…..she informs me last night that she ordered two tickets for us to see SIMON AND GARFUNKEL in fargo…YEAH….i’ve always wanted to see those guys, and even though JEANNIE isn’t completely thrilled about going, she did it anyway….that’s why i love her so much….

5.  DAMN THESE NCAA TOURNAMENTS…i made the mistake last night around 10:30 to turn on the tv for a few minutes when i got home from hecla…it was good and it was bad….good, because my TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS were playing….bad, because i didn’t go to bed until 12:30, and then got up at 3:30…you do the math…ha ha

6.  I AM SO PROUD OF MY WARNER MONARCHS BAND….darn it…i had to miss it…my son MITCHELL, my niece ERIN and the rest of the WARNER HIGH SCHOOL BAND played yesterday at the state ‘b’ tournament at the barnett center, and according to many people, blew everybody away….they apparently did a rendition of the “star spangled banner” that drove people mad….i was told that they put a trumpet player in all four corners of the barnett center and did the song….our band director SHARON SCHWAN stood at midcourt directing them…i heard that it gave people goosebumps….being a band nerd myself, i am so proud of SHARON SCHWAN and the job that she does with the warner band….we have one of the best bands in the state, and it’s all because of her and the kids enthusiasm……

7.  why am i a band nerd?  DRUMMER OF THE YEAR, TWO YEARS IN A ROW AT LANGFORD HIGH SCHOOL….i used to have people from other towns tell me that they never left thier seat at halftime until our band played “WIPEOUT”, which featured yours truly on the trapset…..it was so so so much fun…..

8.  GOD has so blessed our little church in hecla…this sunday is the day i’ve been waiting for, when we put 19 new people into the church at once……that’s incredible for a church in a bigger city, but extraordinary for a town the size of hecla…

9.  the FEDERALCOMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION is working to speed up the internet….great, very soon, we’ll be able to go from zero to 100 pop-ups per second….

4.  i was listening to ESPN RADIO this morning, and MIKE GREENBERG AND DOUG GOTTLEIB were talking about the popularity of the ncaa basketball brackets that people fill out.  well, apparently DOUG GOTTLEIB was stopped this past sunday for speeding by a highway patrol. the highway patrol told him, “I KNOW WHO YOU ARE, AND I’LL LET YOU OFF IF YOU FILL OUT MY NCAA BRACKET….”  isn’t that hilarious?  DOUG told him that he wouldn’t fill it out, because the officer knows where he lives and could show up and harass him if he sucks at his picks…ha ha

5.  BE CAREFUL ON THE ROADS OUT THERE…last night while at our lenten services in hecla, we found out that like THREE MORE ROADS went under in the hour we were in church…it’s getting scary out there, and it’s early in the melting season.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not travel on roads that are water logged….roads can give out and collapse, and we’d hate to see anyone get seriously hurt or killed by this…..

6.  the movie “THE BOUNTY HUNTER” with JENNIFER ANISTON AND GERARD BUTLER opens up at carmike this friday night…i REALLY want to see this movie.  it’s about a former husband and wife who get involved in something illegal while he, as a bounty hunter, is trying to bring her in….hopefully it’s as funny as it looks.

7.  we welcome all who are in aberdeen for the STATE ‘B’ boys basketball tournament….no disrespect intended for class ‘A’ and class ‘AA’, but there’s nothing like the ‘B’….back when i was in high school, when a school like roslyn, langford, ipswich, veblen, frederick, hecla, or others would go to the “B” tournament, the basic theme was ‘LAST ONE OUT OF TOWN, SHUT THE LIGHTS OFF’….

5. and the water began to run….man oh man…there’s a LOT OF WATER around the area already…..i feel so sorry for those who are inundated with water in and around their homes…..last night coming home from hecla, i found out that highway 10 west of houghton has water running across it.  they have a 25 miles per hour speed limit thru the water, but let me tell you this…IT WAS VERY UNNERVING GOING THRU IT…i couldn’t see where the ditches were, and the water flowing kind of takes your mind off the road.  then i got on highway 281, and it looks like two or three spots on that highway may have a bunch of water on them today or very soon.

6.  the great community of CLAREMONT is covered in water.  i hear that there’s like one road left into claremont and that one went under water recently….i can’t imagine…..the american news says that claremont is “AN ISLAND.”  unbelieveable……

7.  i must be getting old or something…i’ve lost my balance and have walked into like three or four walls in the last week…..(maybe i need to lay off the tequila before work.)

5.  well, JEANNIE is back from phoenix….got home, i believe around 1am this morning, after driving in heavy fog all the way from sioux falls.  it’s nice to have her home, but our “BOYS WEEKEND” was a complete blast…my sons TYLER AND MITCHELL are the neatest kids….we had a great time this weekend….by the way, the house was destroyed…we had a MAJOR day of cleaning on saturday!!

6.  last night MITCHELL and i went to see “SHE’S OUT OF YOUR LEAGUE” at carmike theaters…….it was a very very funny movie….there were some times where i didn’t laugh at all, then there were some times where i did a complete “belly laugh”, and oh, what a belly i have….i recommend the movie, if you like good humor, with some vulgar lines and situations in the movie. 

7.  HERE WE GO AGAIN…the flooding has begun in this area….yesterday i did the church services at TRINITY LUTHERAN IN HOUGHTON, and HOUGHTON is already in trouble.  it may get impossible to get into our church in the next few weeks, and ALREADY a few streets in HOUGHTON are completely under water…..and the RED RIVER in FARGO continues to rise.  it went up something like SIX FEET in three days last week…..this is where we shine, folks…help your neighbors…and pray for this region….

8.  this next sunday is going to be one of the most INCREDIBLE days in the history of ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN IN HECLA…we’re going to be putting in and transferring a total of 19 people in one day….man, there are churches in bigger cities that don’t do that in one day….i’m so proud of my congregation, working together to promote our church….

9.  LADAINIAN TOMLINSON signed yesterday with the NEW YORK JETS instead of the MINNESOTA VIKINGS…idiot….by the way, the VIKINGS should confiscate the VIKINGS JERSEY that LADAINIAN took with him from VIKINGS headquarters the other day…

6.  when JEANNIE AND I were dating, we left pierpont with ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to go to aberdeen shopping and then to a movie…well, wouldn’t you know, on the pierpont to groton road, i got stopped for speeding…the highway patrolman said that i was going 60 in a 55…..i told the guy, “WOW,  I DIDN’T THINK I WAS GOING THAT FAST…I’D BETTER GET MY SPEEDOMETER CHECKED”…and the wisecracking highway patrolman said in a very stern way…”YOU JUST DID.”  i’ll never forget that….
