random thoughts for tuesday march 29th, 2011

1.  KISS MY GRITS…..today we feature actress POLLY HOLLIDAY who played FLO on “ALICE.”  she was a spitfire, especially when dealing with MEL from “MEL’S DINER.”  here’s a picture of POLLY back on the show…

since “ALICE”, POLLY has appeared in such movies as “MRS. DOUBTFIRE”, “GREMLINS”, “PRIVATE BENJAMIN” and one of my favorite movies “STIR CRAZY” along with GENE WILDER and RICHARD PRYOR….

POLLY HOLLIDAY is 73 right now and still working. here she is today…

2.  in our “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO” section, we feature comedian RED SKELTON…or “SKELETON” which many people accidentally call him….

RED SKELTON was a great comedian who portrayed such characters as “FREDDY THE FREELOADER”, “CLEM KADIDDLEHOPPER THE CLOWN” and many more.  he also had a very very popular tv show back in the day.

RED SKELTON continued to act and entertain his millions of fans, up until his death in 1997 at the age of 84.  he is buried in a vault at the FORREST LAWN MEMORIAL PARK in GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA…

here’s a couple of pictures of RED SKELTON from his later years…

3.  okay, i admit, the this post is a selfish one for me….tennis great JENNIFER CAPRIATI turns 35 today…she is one of my favorite tennis stars EVER and, yes, she is incredibly gorgeous, so i probably had a bit of crush on her…ha ha….remember her?

here’s JENNIFER CAPRIATI today on her 35th birthday…still incredibly hot…

4.  okay, yesterday i was wondering just how many people on the ESPN boards still have their NCAA backets correct after the onslaught of top teams being elimated.  teams like BUTLER, and VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH have totally screwed up people’s brackets…well, here are the amazing stats…

ESPN has 5.9 million people that sent in their brackets…of the 5.9 million people, TWO PEOPLE HAD ALL FOUR TEAMS PICKED CORRECTLY…TWO PEOPLE..i’m actually suprised that it’s that high….and one of the guys has VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH picked to win it all…obviously a homer….

5.  i received a big suprise while taking DAD to MINNEAPOLIS last week….we stopped for a break at a gas station in MINNESOTA, and i noticed an old DORITO’S bag….remember this one?

well, i found out that the company has released the original bag with THE ORIGINAL TASTE OF THE CHIPS….and man, did that take me back…..you should try them….haven’t seen them around here, but then again, haven’t been looking for them….

6.  we sat down last night and took a break from reality, and had a pizza and watched a movie…A HORRIBLE MOVIE…i had wanted to see the new MATT DAMON movie called “HEREAFTER.”

NONE OF US LIKED IT…it was very boring and took forever to get over with…..the disappointing this is that it’s a CLINT EASTWOOD film, and i LOVE CLINT EASTWOOD….of course, i believe this is his first movie since “GRAN TORINO” and NOTHING will beat that movie…

7.  secretary of defense ROBERT GATES said that LIBYA wasn’t a threat and was of no vital national interest….pretty much the same thing the KANSAS JAYHAWKS said about VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH before sunday’s game….

8.  HARRY WESLEY COOVER, JR. the inventor of SUPER GLUE, died at the age of 94…friends say that he was tired and didn’t want to STICK AROUND ANYMORE…(oooh, that was bad….)

9.  researchers say that FACEBOOK can cause severe depression…especially to the creators of MYSPACE…

10.  WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY researchers say that people will start scratching themselves if they see someone else scratching…..is it psychological?  no stupid…maybe the first person has fleas….

11.  it’s being reported that KATIE COURIC is losing the “CBS EVENING NEWS”, but will show up on “60 MINUTES.”  here job there is to thaw out ANDY ROONEY before every show….

what do you get when you cross a PIG with LIBYAN leader GADAFFI?  nothing…THERE’S CERTAIN THINGS A PIG WON’T DO….
