COUNTRY LEGEND DIES AT AGE 90…..

country singer and songwriter CLAUDE KING has died at the age of 90…..he had just celebrated his 90th birthday and his 67th wedding anniversary to his wife BARBARA….these events happened just last month.  CLAUDE KING was found unresponsive in his bed early thursday morning in SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA….

CLAUDE KING is an original member of the LOUISIANA HAYRIDE, which brought to the stage dozens and dozens of country newcomers that would become big stars….like my favorite HANK WILLIAMS, SR…

CLAUDE KING will be best remembered for one of the greatest songs in country music history……

that’s right, CLAUDE KING and MERLE KILGORE wrote the all time classic “WOLVERTON MOUNTAIN,” which by the way is based on a true story……CLIFTON CLOWERS, the subject of the song, lived up on WOLVERTON MOUTAIN…he was the uncle of MERLE KILGORE….the song became an instant hit, stayed number one for a few months, and sold well over a million copies…….

READY TO SING ALONG TO THE SONG?   here is CLAUDE KING and “WOLVERTON MOUNTAIN.”
