WOW…i cannot believe that tomorrow is december….the good news is that we’ve escaped any major snow for one month…the great new is…IT’S FRIDAY…..

2.  i thought it would be fun to see what happened to the cast of the hit tv show “BENSON.”  it ran from 1979-1986….it wasn’t really a show that i watched a lot, but i did catch it once on awhile.  it was big in the ratings, though…….

MISSY GOLD played the daughter “KATIE.”  she is no longer in the entertainment business…she is a psychiatrist……once again, no recent picture….but i do have one with her famous sisters……from left to right…..BRANDY GOLD who starred in “SIMON AND SIMON” and other show…..TRACY GOLD who played on “GROWING PAINS”, and their sister MISSY GOLD from “BENSON.”

 

RENE AUBERJONOIS played “CLAYTON” on the show…he’s still active in the business….he’s 72 years old….

 

and, ETHAN PHILLIPS played “PETE.”  he is now 57…..

 

3.  i could NOT sleep last night…i was up watching tv from 12:45 until 3am….actually feel pretty good today considering……but, while watching tv last night, i saw actor WILLIAM DEVANE in a commercial…hadn’t seen him in quite some time…..let’s check in one him, shall we?

he was a stinker on “KNOTS LANDING”.  he played the villain GREG SUMNER….

 

 

here’s something you probably didn’t know…..WILLIAM DEVANE is the son of JOE DEVANE…JOE was once the chauffer to FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT when he was governor of NEW YORK….

WILLIAM DEVANE is now 75 years old…here he is recently……

 

 

 

4.  I CANNOT WAIT FOR MONDAY NIGHT…..

my WASHINGTON REDSKINS can inch closer to the lead in the division if we beat the NEW YORK GIANTS monday night….they’re playing on national tv, so i hope they show up and let people see how good we really are…….

 

this sunday is VIKINGS vs. PACKERS…doesn’t get much better than that…..

 

5.  I’M SO FRUSTRATED…my fantasy football quarterback, MATT RYAN of the ATLANTA FALCONS has been stinking it up the past few weeks….he was projected to have 26 points last night against the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS, but ended up with TEN….doesn’t help my team much…….

 

6.  no big plans for the weekend…our PIERSON FORD christmas party is saturday night…from what i hear it’s awfully fun….after that we’re talking about going bowling or finding karaoke somewhere…..i hope i can bowl as good as i can on my cell phone with the bowling game i downloaded…ha ha…..

 

7.  JOKE OF THE DAY:

2.  yesterday when i got home, my brother was talking about my LARRY HAGMAN tribute, and he got thinking about NICOLETTE SHERIDAN…..(i don’t know how, but hey, it’s his brain..ha ha)  anyway, he looked up pictures of her to see what she looks like today, and i thought i would do the same…..

NICOLETTE SHERIDAN got her start on a soap opera back in the mid 80’s that didn’t last long called “PAPER DOLLS.”  she’s in the middle of this picture with TERRY FARRELL on the top and MORGAN FAIRCHILD on the bottom….

 

of course, NICOLETTE SHERIDAN’S big break was playing the character PAIGE MATHESON on “KNOT’S LANDING.”  she’s in the middle of the top row…..

 

and most recently, she played EDIE BRITT on the hit tv show “DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.”

 

NICOLETTE SHERIDAN just turned 49 last week…and she still looks awfully good….(one thing i did not know about her…she auditioned for the role of GRACE on “WILL AND GRACE.”  she obviously didn’t get it, but went on to guest star on the show.)

 

 

 

3.  let’s see what a couple of her co-stars from years ago look like……JOAN VAN ARK played on “KNOTS LANDING” with her…..

ummm…i think JOAN might have gotten some “work” done on herself……she’s now 69 and this is what she looks like today…..

 

4.  MORGAN FAIRCHILD has always been stunningly beautiful…AND STILL IS….here she is back when….

5.  as i mentioned before, my brother and i sat down and watched football last night…it was a DOG of a game as CAROLINA beat PHILADELPHIA….but, CAROLINA’S running back needed 15 points for my brother to beat me…he didn’t get it….i’m  in sole first place in our league, and i have NEVER been there before….i have a pretty darn good team……the guy i feel sorry for is my son MITCHELL…he needed six points to beat his cousin, and MITCHELL had DESEAN JACKSON from PHILADELPHIA last night…it should have been a sure thing to get it….BUT, he got injured and only got one point for my son…that’s the breaks of fantasy football….

 

6.  HOT HOLLYWOOD NEWS…..remember the young boy who played JAKE on “TWO AND A HALF MEN?”  his name is ANGUS T. JONES….i’m sure you know him….

he played ALLAN’S son on the show….

well, ANGUS came out a couple of days ago and BLASTED his show, saying it is “full of filth” and “people shouldn’t watch it.”   man, that can’t set right with the show’s creators…..i give ANGUS a ton of credit for this one…he apparently is a deep deep christian now and said this recently about the show.  truthfully, i agree with him….the show is full of sexual inuendo, and has gotten worse in years…..i give ANGUS two thumbs up for having the courage to stand up for what he believes in….YOU DON’T SEE THAT IN HOLLYWOOD MUCH ANYMORE…..

 

7.  speaking of “TWO AND A HALF MEN”,  their former star is in the news…reports say that CHARLIE SHEEN recently gave LINDSAY LOHAN a check for $100,000 dollars….i sincerely hope it’s for acting lessons……

 

8.  a man from CALIFORNIA woke up from a coma recently…he apparently was in the coma for quite a few months…..rumors are swirling that he came out of the coma, found out that “GANGNAM STYLE” was still around and that JUSTIN BIEBER won a bunch of music awards, and then begged the doctors to put him back under…..

 

9.  JOKE OF THE DAY:

UGH..IT’S MONDAY…..this next one definetly rings true today…ha ha…

2.  this weekend we lost an icon in the entertainment field…..LARRY HAGMAN died at the age of 81 due to cancer…….LARRY HAGMAN has been around for many decades and has entertained millions with his wit, charm, humor, and ability to play a bad guy…even though he was one of the nicest men you could ever meet, according to reports i have read….

i don’t know if you remember this or not, but LARRY HAGMAN was the son of actress MARY MARTIN, who played PETER PAN…..MARY MARTIN died in 1990 at the age of 76….

 

 

 

 

LARRY HAGMAN got his career break playing MAJOR TONY NELSON in the 60’s hit sitcom “I DREAM OF JEANNIE.”  he starred opposite BARBARA EDEN……

 

 

however, it was playing the bad guy oil baron, J.R. EWING on the hit tv show “DALLAS” that made LARRY HAGMAN a worldwide star….maybe even “legend.”  J.R. EWING was the perfect villian…..you LOVED to HATE this guy……

 

 

and, LARRY HAGMAN was part of one of the most seen episodes of a television show in the history of television….the “DALLAS” episode about “WHO SHOT J.R.?” was, at that time, the most viewed episode of television EVER…since then, it has fallen into second place because of the finale of “M*A*S*H”…..

 

do you remember who it was that shot him?  it was the character KRISTIN SHEPHARD, played by MARY CROSBY…..

 

LARRY HAGMAN is one of those “lucky” celebrities….his name and character from “DALLAS” will be around for decades and decades to come……here’s a couple of later year pictures of LARRY HAGMAN…..rest in peace……

 

 

3.  I just mentioned a couple of LARRY HAGMAN’S co-stars…let’s find out what they look like today…..

BARBARA EDEN played the super gorgeous “JEANNIE” on “I LOVE JEANNIE.”  she is now 78 years old…here she is doing the famous “JEANNIE” move….

 

MARY CROSBY is now 53 years old…here’s what she looks like today…..

 

4.  there is a horror movie that our son MITCHELL has been umm…”dying” to show us…no pun intended….well, actually it WAS intended….the movie is called “VHS”, and is about a series of horror stories…..MITCHELL said it was one of the absolute best horror movies he has ever seen……we watched it saturday night…it was creepy…it was scary at time…it was gross…..but i wouldn’t categorize it as one of my all time favorite horror movies…of course, i’ve seen many many more than MITCHELL has…..anyway, to each it’s own…….MITCHELL said that we didn’t fully enjoy it, because his mom wouldn’t let us shut the christmas tree lights off and be completely dark…ha ha…..

5.  fantasy football is driving me crazy…..i am in first place, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER….this current weekend i am playing my brother TREVOR…i was blowing him away until the late games yesterday….his players did well, and ELI MANNING went crazy last night…which i’m sure was a bittersweet thing for TREVOR being ELI got those incredible points beating TREVOR’S favorite team, THE GREEN BAY PACKERS….first of all, i NEEDED the PACKERS to win, so that the GIANTS were only one game ahead of my REDSKINS….OH WELL…

anyway, i was far ahead….my brother caught up….and now it comes down to tonight’s game…..he has JONATHAN STEWART from the CAROLINA PANTHERS…he needs his guy to get 16 points to beat me…..my forecast?  i think i’m done….ha ha….he should be way able to get those points…..TREVOR stays with us a couple nights a week, and tonight’s one of them…i guarantee we will be watching that one….

 

6.  i saw over the weekend that PRINCE CHARLES says he is running out of time to be king…in a related story, his mother, THE QUEEN, is now sleeping with one eye open…..

 

7.  this is crazy…do you know what americans spend on “black friday?”  over ELEVEN BILLION DOLLARS….wow…most of that was in medical bills due to getting trampled…….

 

8.  JOKE OF THE DAY:

A young bride and groom-to-be had just selected the wedding ring. As the girl admired the plain platinum and diamond band, she suddenly looked concerned. “Tell me,” she asked the elderly salesman “is there anything special I’ll have to do to take care of this ring?” With a fatherly smile, the salesman said, “One of the best ways to protect a wedding ring is to dip it in dishwater three times a day.”

IT’S FRIDAY…FEELS LIKE MONDAY, BUT IT’S FRIDAY…..

BRING ON THE HEART ATTACK!!!

 

hmmm..i never thought about this at the theater…could have used it wednesday night at “LINCOLN.”

 

i hope somebody brought toilet paper with them…..

 

2.  well, yesterday we had a TREMENDOUS day for THANKSGIVING at my brother and sister in law’s house in MILLER, SOUTH DAKOTA….my sister in law, KELLEY,  made an incredible meal for our dinner….we had a little bit of everything, and it was scrumptious….

KELLEY is a huge DALLAS COWBOYS fan, so we suprised her when we showed up….the entire game from the ABERDEEN area showed up in WASHINGTON REDSKINS gear….(most of it mine..ha ha)

 

and she was the ONLY fan there with the most hated team in football’s apparel on…

 

KELLEY AND I decided to take pictures before the game, at halftime, and after the game, reflecting on what’s happening at that point….

things started out good before the game….

 

then came halftime with my beloved REDSKINS up by 25…….

 

the COWBOYS woke up in the second half, but my favorite team held on for a ten point victory…….

 

i hope her lips didn’t burn from kissing my jersey…ha ha….

 

3.  as  i mentioned, it was a great game to watch….IF YOU WERE A REDSKINS FAN…..

even people that weren’t SKINS fans yesterday commented on how fun it is to watch RG3…..

 

AND ANOTHER REDSKINS TOUCHDOWN…HA HA

as i mentioned, it was a fun game to watch…my SKINS seem to be for real…and now how important were our four or five single digit losses early in the season…we could be number one in our division right now…..

 

4.  so, JEANNIE and the boys and I got home from MILLER last night around 8:30 and decided to take in our very first early shopping fiasco of our lives…..OUR FIRST AND OUR LAST…..definetly not fun….stores were packed…and unless you were looking for “specific deals”, you didn’t find much…..we went to two stores and were on our way home by 10pm…..we all agreed that this trip was a ONE TIME THING….

 

5.  the movie “LINCOLN” was absolutely incredible…….i can totally see ACADEMY AWARD wins for DANIEL DAY LEWIS for best actor, SALLY FIELD for best actress and the movie for best picture…..superb acting…fantastic story……and it’s fun to see a movie without a ton of special effects…..great great movie…..

***the only crappy part of the night was the two gentlemen in our row who continued to talk OUT LOUD to each other during the movie…they were older and obviously hard of hearing, but still, it’s so annoying…..

***i don’t get a lot of opportunities anymore to spend a lot of quality time with my son MITCHELL…we had a blast that night……two big buckets of popcorn, large pops, some candy, and a great movie…perfect evening with my boy…i just wish TYLER could have been there, too…….

 

6.  JOKE OF THE DAY:

On their 40th wedding anniversary and during the banquet celebrating it, Tom was asked to give his friends a brief account of the benefits of a marriage of such long duration.

“Tell us Tom, just what is it you have learned from all those wonderful years with your wife?”

Tom responds, “Well, I’ve learned that marriage is the best teacher of all. It teaches you loyalty, forbearance, meekness, self-restraint, forgiveness –and a great many other qualities you wouldn’t have needed if you’d stayed single.”

2.  i think one of the funniest duos in comedy EVER are “THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS.”  the two brothers, TOMMY AND DICK, have entertained millions over the past four decades….including their popular tv show, which was finally yanked off the air because of it’s “political content.”

DICK SMOTHERS is celebrating a birthday today…he turns 72…he’s the dark haired “serious” one of the duo…..his brother TOMMY is now 75 years old…..let’s salute them, shall we?  let’s check out some early photos…

here are the SMOTHERS BROTHERS in the last year or two…i’m still mad at myself that i didn’t go see them when they were at the casino near HANKINSON, N.D.  a while back…i’ll probably never get that shot again….

4.  the very beautiful BO DEREK turns 55 today…she has always been such a beautiful woman…you probably remember her from the movie “10” starring DUDLEY MOORE….

yeah, and we’re supposed to beleive that someone like DUDLEY MOORE can get someone like BO DEREK…RIGHT!!!!  (oh wait…i got my beautiful wife, jeannie…so i guess it’s possible….)

and actually, she still looks pretty spectacular at 55…..here is BO DEREK today….

5.  WELL…TONIGHTS THE NIGHT…..

my son MITCHELL is home from college, so tonight, we’re going to join my other son TYLER and go see the new movie “LINCOLN.”  every review i have ever seen has been superb…people are calling this one of the best movies of this century…how about that?

DANIEL DAY LEWIS and SALLY FIELD are already garnering huge talk about the OSCARS….and it looks like they do a great job…..

i can’t wait…i will have a review soon….

6.  I CANNOT WAIT FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT…..we have our boys home wednesday night before we go to MILLER for turkey day with our family, so we’re going to have our “family tradition” meal of KUMLA……

this picture doesn’t do them justice…for those of you who don’t know what KUMLA is, they are ground up potatoes and flour, boiled in liquid that has had a hambone in it all day long…..then you mash them on your plate and put A POUND OF BUTTER ON THEM…well, i may have exaggerated that a bit, but it’s probably what i do….

seriously, there is nothing better than this NORWEGIAN dish…….and wish all due respect to my GRANDMA and my MAMA, JEANNIE makes the best KUMLA i have ever tasted….and a bonus is that our boys love it too……..

***i’ll probably be so stuffed wednesday night that i won’t be able to eat on turkey day…..(YEAH RIGHT..LIKE THAT’S GONNA HAPPEN.)

7.  i saw a new report on the news that over 85 percent of AMERICANS are now using their seatbelts…how about that?  rumors are swirling that it’s because people realized that LINDSAY LOHAN and PARIS HILTON are back driving……

8.  the big winner at the music awards the other night was JUSTIN BIEBER…..THE BIG WINNER:  JUSTIN BIEBER…..THE BIG LOSER….OUR EARS…..

9.  JOKE OF THE DAY:

A stingy old lawyer who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness was
determined to prove wrong the saying, “You can’t take it with you.”

After
much thought and consideration, the old ambulance-chaser finally figured out how
to take at least some of his money with him when he died. He instructed his wife
to go to the bank and withdraw enough money to fill two pillow cases. He then
directed her to take the bags of money to the attic and leave them directly
above his bed. His plan: When he passed away, he would reach out and grab the
bags on his way to heaven.

Several weeks after the funeral, the deceased
lawyer’s wife, up in the attic cleaning, came upon the two forgotten pillow
cases stuffed with cash.

“Oh, that darned old fool,” she exclaimed. “I

what i love the most is that these girls were very unselfish players.  they didn’t have one player that got all the glory.  there were five or six at one time that were being the “stars”, and the next night a few others took over.  and they appeared to work so well together….no ego, just hard playing volleyball….WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR MONARCHS VOLLEYBALL TEAM….

it has been an INCREDIBLE year so far for the WARNER MONARCHS…our girls volleyball team wins the state, our football team goes to the state championship for the VERY FIRST TIME, and the outlook for both boys and girls basketball is high…..LOVE BEING A WARNER MONARCH….

 

3.  today we’re going to salute the beautiful SALLY FIELD….she makes a triumphant return to the forefront of actresses in the new movie “LINCOLN.”  this cute, bubbly star will always be known for “THE FLYING NUN.”

and “GIDGET.”

and “SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT” with BURT REYNOLDS….

4.  this week i will be going to a funeral that i have been dreading…….

that’s right, apparently the TWINKIE is dead……sad….

apparently HOSTESS has had thier employees embattled in a huge union fight, so they’ve decided to toss in the ding dong…….i also hear that TWINKIES are going thru the roof pricewise on different trading blocks….weird….

this next one pretty much sums it up…..

 

5.  i don’t know who this girl is…her name is MCKAYLA MARONEY…she’s a gold medalist for our OLYMPIC team, and was caught by the media with a “not impressed” stare…well, recently she got to go to the WHITE HOUSE and meet the president…it looks like PRESIDENT OBAMA has quite a sense of humor…ha ha…

 

6.  NFL NOTES:

***my WASHINGTON REDSKINS rocked the house yesterday….RG3, from what i hear had a “perfect quarterback rating” yesterday……fun game to watch….

***i had MATT RYAN of the ATLANTA FALCONS in as my fantasy quarterback…he had a few yards and FOUR INTERCEPTIONS…two fantasy points for me, however, his team, the FALCONS won…and that’s what it’s all about…

***GREEN BAY came back to beat DETROIT to really confuse the “black and blue” division….the VIKINGS were off yesterday…

***ANDRE JOHNSON of the HOUSTON TEXANS had his best game ever…over 250 yards in receiving and a touchdown…and yes, i had him in my lineup for fantasy football.

***the PITTSBURGH STEELERS lost last night to the BALTIMORE RAVENS….you can sure see the difference when BIG BEN is not in at quarterback.

***there were three or four overtime games yesterday……THAT’S WHY I’M GLAD I HAVE THE NFL PACKAGE FROM DIRECTV…ha ha….i almost ripped my fingers off switching the remote back and forth.

congratulations to our WARNER MONARCHS volleyball team…they are the state champions in SOUTH DAKOTA….

and what’s even more impressive?   90-0 on the season….yep…NINETY GAME WINS AND NO LOSSES…….

two teams scored 20 points or more on our girls this season…..AWESOME….

congrats girls….you cannot even imagine how proud of you we are!!

QUICK SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE!!!

my WARNER MONARCHS volleyball team plays for the state championship tonight against the ARLINGTON CARDINALS.  the game is at the CORN PALACE in MITCHELL….

 

how impressive is WARNER this year? 

***THEY HAVEN’T LOST ONE MATCH THIS YEAR……their season record is like 33-0, but with all the game wins they are something like 87-0 this year….THREE MORE TO GO TONIGHT….

A COUPLE OF RANDOM THOUGHTS……

i apologize to you, but i don’t have the time to do a full blog for today, but i will let you in on a couple of random thoughts…….i’ll have another full blog on monday….

1.  FUNNIEST THING I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG TIME….

one of our sales guys here at PIERSON FORD is, quite possibly, one of the funniest people i know…his name is DENNIS THOMPSON…..today, we were talking about MARLON BRANDO, and his movie roles…..DENNIS says, “i remember him mostly from ‘A BOXCAR NAMED WILLIE.”   just about wet myself laughing…of course, he meant, “A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE.”  and he fired it out so quickly, there’s no way that he was planning to say that………

here’s what i was talking about….

HILARIOUS….a classic movie called “A BOXCAR NAMED WILLIE.”  that made my day…….

2.  well, my WARNER MONARCHS girls volleyball team has advanced to the state semifinals tonight…..they won last night in three straight sets….in fact, as i may have told you before, my WARNER girls have not lost a match this year….they won EVERY SINGLE GAME THREE GAMES TO NONE…..that’s pretty incredible…….GOOD LUCK LADY MONARCHS……

3.  my weekend plans include seeing the movie “LINCOLN”….cannot wait….DANIEL DAY LEWIS stars as ABRAHAM LINCOLN, and everybody is saying that the OSCAR for best actor is his to lose……it’s amazing how much he looks like LINCOLN….

the only thing that worries me about this movie is the fact that it’s TWO AND A HALF HOURS LONG….oh well, the movie “TITANIC” was like three hours long and it didn’t seem that long…..i think my wife is going to see the new “TWILIGHT” movie instead of the “LINCOLN” movie…..i think i’m getting the better end of the deal….
